Fun to see some new routes on Southwest hit lowest ever prices. While we occasionally — once or MAYBE twice per year— might see United (or Delta) offer a price like this, those prices do not include free checked bags / ski bags.

As mentioned in previous deals — that's a game changer to the tune of $140 in saved bag fees.

Sun Valley is offering 25%+ off lift tickets purchased on their site (early season promo — saves $165ish on 5 day passes), that stacks well for longer trips with Mountain Collective ($469/yr) pass holders getting Two-Free Ski Days AND 30% off Lodging at Sun Valley.

New York to Idaho is almost always $450ish — these cheap ski trips save 40% and get you there with One-Stop on Southwest Airlines.

If nothing else this is an excellent excuse for anyone who has been on the fence about the Mountain Collective Pass as you come VERY close to paying for the whole pass on this one trip between the money saved on Lift Tickets and the 25% discount you get on lodging at Sun Valley.

I am was pretty sold BEFORE seeing the above tree skiing clips — I am at least 25% closer after.

While their aren't quite as many Mountain Collective Pass resorts as there have been in years past around the Northeast there are no shortage of epic (no pun intended) options out west.

Cheap Idaho Flight Availability

Generally this runs now until March as a part of the most recent release of Southwest sale fares.

Useable ski trip options really don't start until the End of November as Sun Valley is currently slated to open until November 27th. I would generally target something mid-season or at least mid-December as (in general — based on previous years) thats when the first bigger storms start rolling in.

How to Book on Southwest

Since southwest doesn't allow direct links to specific dates, the best way to go about this is to hit the Southwest Low Fare Calendar. From there enter the airport you want to fly from (EWR to BOI) and then select November (alternately December, January):

That should land you on the right calendar. You are looking for the flights that are $149 on the way out there, and $140 on the way back. Generally the sale covers October through March.

Once you select a date you want to hit continue at which point you are looking for the Non-Stop 'Wanna Get Away' flights. Since there aren't any non-stop options (and no 2 stop options that I saw) you should be able to just book the time that works best for you.
