Southwest has what may be some of the last cheap flights into Reno, Lake Tahoe in Early April before many of the resorts close for the season. That also matches up well with end of season discounts that are going down.

Epic Pass holders, Ikon Pass holders and anyone with Mountain Collective lift tickets left to burn all ski free.

Boston to Reno Lake Tahoe generally runs $375+ with bags — these cheap ski flights save at least 35% and get you there with One-Stop on Southwest Airlines.

Skiing on Southwest is a big deal considering the costs that bags will run on most of the other airlines (and the fact that generally you are going to have at least two checked bags). Even Alaska who has some of the most Ski friendly policies will run +$50 RT for your Skis (or board) and boots plus another $50 for your gear / clothing bag.

United or Delta would be +$120 RT for skis and your gear bag, the cheapest I found between now and May on either of those airlines was $440 total with bags.

Not to mention the recent storm totals...

While $257 with a single stop is not earth shattering, Tahoe just finished getting 40 inches of snow yesterday and there is more on the way.

It looks like it's shaping up to be a GREAT April.

How to Book

Per usual Southwest STILL does not allow us to link directly to the flights so this one will take a little extra elbow grease.

Here's how you do it:

  1. Visit Southwest.com
  2. Scroll down and look for the "Flexible Fates" link just above "Special Offers":
and just to the right of the "Where we fly". Click on Flexible Dates.
  3. Enter 'BOS' as your Departure City / Airport and 'RNO' as your Destination City / Airport.
  4. Select your Months. The cheapest ski flight availability happens in Early - Mid April.

Hit Search and then select your dates from the Calendar. You want departures in the low $100s and returns around $150.
