Getting to Telluride, Crested Butte and the rest of the fantastic ski options in Western Colorado generally requires at least 2 stops at roughly double to cost of flying into Denver. Not this time though — American has single stop flights into Montrose-Telluride (MTJ) airport for half what they normally run.

PLUS get 50% off Spring Ski-in-Ski-Out lodging at Crested Butte AND M.A.X. Pass holders ski free at Crested Butte OR Telluride.

Boston to Montrose-Telluride w/One-Stop generally runs $600ish — these cheap ski flights save 40% and get you there with One-Stop on American Airlines.

Like most of the smaller airports (Aspen-Eagle etc), Montrose-Telluride runs solidly $150-$200 more than a flight into Denver or Colorado Springs. For that reason I generally don't post many deals to either location since there really aren't many to be found.

That changes when mid February rolls around sice we start to see any resort with a little-too-much spring availability start to heavily discount their remaining lodging.

Pair that with a cheap-ish flight that saves 4-6 hours drive time (vs Colorado Springs), and free lift tickets thanks to your M.A.X. pass — knew I should have gotten one — and you have an absolutely killer deal to Telluride or Crested Butte.

If no M.A.X... heads up — the western half of the Colorado ski resorts don't drop their lift ticket prices nearly as much and you won't find Telluride or Crested Butte on Liftopia or GetSkiTickets.com!

Crested Butte

Crested Butte really makes this deal this time around since they are absolutely offering some of the best lodging discounts we have seen all year.

50% off Ski-In-Ski-Out lodging that comes in right around 100/nt is practically unheard of.

While the availability for the deepest discounts essentially runs ONLY for the first week in April, the fact that those dates ARE covered by some of the cheapest flight options below makes this a great deal for ANYONE with a M.A.X. not to mention anyone else looking to checkout CB.

Telluride

My uncle lived out here skiing backcountry in the 70s. While things have gone dramatically upscale since then anyone with a M.A.X. pass is set (at least for this year) and everyone can still score some decent lodging savings in the 20% range for spring riding on Telluride's resort website that line up well with the flights we found into Montrose-Telluride regional airport.

Telluride was recently named North America's #1 resort destination 5 out of the last 6 years. That sort of acclaim generally comes with a price hike and this time around is no different. 20% off is the best promo we have seen all year (including Black Friday!).

As far as next year — Telluride has joined the Epic Pass and gives full-epic-pass holders (ie. no scrubs like me on the local pass) 7 free days of riding in the 2018-2019 season.

For now all of you guys on the M.A.X. pass should use em up, this is the last year for Telluride on M.A.X. pass before transitioning to Epic!
