CHEAP Non-Stops from Southwest for prime January / February skiing on the west coast this winter. Includes a checked bag, your skis / board bag and a boot bag free of charge.
PLUS Trivago also has some awesome 40% off 4-Star lodging options, or 50% off 3-Star lodging options, for anyone who is planning to head up to Mammoth once you land. Liftopia also has ~30% off Mammoth Lift Tickets that match with the flights / hotels.
Atlanta to L.A. has been running $350+ including bags — these cheap flights save 50%+ and get you there Non-Stop on Southwest.
This deal is new this week and while there aren't a whole ton of date options (mostly late Jan and early Feb), there are some great options on Non-Stop routes which doesn't happen often. That being the case it's still a trek to drive up to Mammoth from L.A.
To make things a little easier on the 4+ hour drive, assuming Mammoth is your destination, Silvercar is hooking up 30% off brand new Audi A4 rentals ($42/day) w/Code: VINFINITE. For anyone who hasn't rented from Silvercar before I highly recommend it. I had an absolute blast with mine on the way up to, and the way back from, Breckenridge last a few weeks back.
These days it's hard to get a Toyota Camry for $42/day let alone a tricked out Audi A4 with all the fixings (Navigation, Leather, Bluetooth, Wifi et al.) All wheel drive and... them things are fast. Don't forget the coupon code, saves $125ish for the week.
Cheap Mammoth Ski Lodging
Mammoth lodging is so expensive (generally) that a girl I shared a chair with in Heavenly (Lake Tahoe) last weekend end jumped a plane to head up there rather than making the drive to Mammoth due to the price difference in lodging expenses. That being said some of the better deals I have seen this winter make crashing at or near the mountain much more attainable for this particularly deal.
Since there aren't any great coupons floating around I am linking out to Trivago since they have the best selection at the moment. My pick would be The Village Lodge for 41% off ($229/nt) alternately if you want to save a few extra bucks and in exchange for a slight lower "7.5" user rating you could try the Mammoth Mountain Inn for 29% off ($126/nt).
Either once is substantially cheaper than we have seen over the past few months.
There are a lot of great 3 Star hotels / apartments / condos in the $130 to $160/nt range which is actually really cheap relative to what I would expect to pay. My personal choice would probably be the Sierra Nevada Resort and Spa for 43% off ($129/nt) but there are actually quite a few good options:
Cheap Mammoth Mtn Lift Tickets
Liftopia is a great resource when you are a booking a trip in advance. While they don't often have tickets on sale in the near term, long term stuff often carries a big discount as a way for ski resoirts to generate guaranteed / locked in payment revenue. That works out in this case with 30% Off Mammoth Mountain Lift TIckets.
If that is still a bit too much even after discount Mt. Baldy is a small family oriented So-Cal ski option that is 60% Off on Liftopia
Book Your Flight and Go
This is another Southwest deal so any of you who cheked out the previous $80 RT Atlanta Flight to Colorado deal last week will know the deal. Basically Southwest has a great fare calendar which is the best way to find your dates.
Cheapest flight options make use of very inexpensive departing flights the last few days of January but there are a lot of Return flights you can pair with those. Some of the best deals (imo) are:
- $171.96 | Jan 30th - Feb 6th
- $176.96 | Jan 29th - Feb 2nd
How to Book
Southwest doesn't let us create links directly to each set of possible flights, but they DO have a great flexible flight calendar which lists all of the cheap flights from Atlanta per month.
- Hit Southwest's Flexible Fare Calendar
- Enter 'ATL' as your Departure City / Airport and 'LAX' as your Destination City / Airport.
- Select your Months (January departure, February Return). The cheapest ski flight availability happens end January.
- Hit search and then select your dates from the Calendar.
The flights you are looking for are $86 on the way to L.A. and $69 on the way back.
Gear Up for Your Trip
Since you are saving at least $400 on this one we figured we would come up with some ways to help you re-invest that cash you just saved. Here are some of this weeks best deals:
Skis.com is known for having some pretty awesome close out options on past years / overstock ski gear. Right now they are running a pretty awesome 'Holiday-Hangover' promo for 50 to 70% off that includes MANY major brands but most importantly the above discounts stack with a 10% off coupon code: Snowflake1 good on any set of new Skis to push some discounts as high as 80% off.
Don't forget to add the 10% off Coupon (code: Snowflake1) when you check out, stacks with the above discounts.
Not quite as good a selection but still a bunch of great 50% off gear as part of this latest round of web specials. My favorite deal here is the Women's Nano-Air Light Hoodie but there are a lot of good options.
